We continually develop our services by listening carefully to the views of residents and their families, while also investing in the ongoing professional development of our team to maintain the highest possible standards of care.

Our history

Broad Oak Manor is a Grade II-listed Queen Anne home, built in 1742 and originally serving as the home farm to the nearby Goldings Estate. Rich in character and history, it later became a private manor house in 1926, undergoing a number of thoughtful improvements during this time, including extensions by the renowned architect Harry Stuart Goodhart-Rendel. In 1976, Broad Oak Manor began a new chapter as a nursing home, combining its historic charm with a purpose centred around care, comfort, and community.

Set within beautiful landscaped gardens in the peaceful Hertfordshire countryside, Broad Oak Manor offers a setting that is both elegant and welcoming. The grounds remain an important part of daily life, providing residents, families, and visitors with lovely outdoor spaces to enjoy, whether for a quiet walk, time with loved ones, or simply taking in the surroundings. The Barn also adds to the warmth and character of Broad Oak Manor, offering a relaxed and inviting space that reflects the sense of community at the heart of life here.

In 2002, Broad Oak Lane opened beside the nursing home, introducing a collection of 29 luxury houses designed by local architect Mike Easton. This development allowed us to expand our offering while continuing to provide 24-hour personalised support in a home residents can truly call their own. Together, Broad Oak Manor and Broad Oak Lane reflect a long-standing commitment to creating a place where history, comfort, independence, and high-quality care come together.

Stories from our residents

"Kind and caring is the heart of this business. I wouldn’t consider anywhere else for my grandmother to reside, how they cared for my grandmother was incredible. Friendly, considerate and compassionate staff"

"The home and staff radiate a calm, caring and homely feel, it feels more like a 5 star hotel than a care setting! We cannot thank them enough for all their help and most importantly the exceptional care they provide"
